2004 World Series Field Set at 48 Teams
There will be 48 qualifying berths for the 2004 NBC World Series. This is an increase of 4 berths from the 2003 tournament. The change was made due to an increase in Leagues affiliating with the National Baseball Congress. Many Leagues have contacted the NBC office about possible affiliation for 2004 and there are currently only 2 berths remaining for the National. These berths will be awarded to New Leagues and/or tournaments who affiliate with the NBC. If your league or tournament would like to be affiliated with the NBC and be awarded a berth into the 2004 National, contact the NBC office immediately as the openings will be awarded on a first come basis. All League, Team, and Tournament affiliation fees will remain the same for 2004. The NBC World Series entry fee has increased $100/team. For more information, contact Mike Quick or Josh Robertson at the NBC Office. (316) 267-3372
World Series Information
The 70th annual NBC World Series will be held July 31st-Aug. 14th. All teams must be prepared to play
no later than August 4th. Chinese Taipei and Santa Barbara will receive automatic berths due to their 1st
and 2nd place finish in 2003. In the event that either team will choose not to participate in the 2004
tournament, no further automatic berths will be awarded. The following leagues or tournaments will receive
two berths: California Coastal Collegiate League, Walter Johnson League, Illinois Suburban League, Midwest
Regional, Pacific Southwest League, Red River League, Jayhawk League, Zaragoza Amateur Baseball League,
Alaska League, and Nevada Tournament of Champions. These berths are awarded to their league or tournament
representatives for finishing in the top ten in the 2003 tournament. All other leagues or tournaments will
receive just one berth, but additional teams from affiliated leagues may receive a berth if any league or
tournament chooses not to send a representative. There were three such berths awarded in 2003.
